LiT Review

With the explosion of restaurants and venues in West Omaha, it’s hard to figure out where to go.  We recently discovered a refreshing and unique hot spot known as LiT Tapas Bar and Lounge.

LiT has a laid-back atmosphere where you could meet with a client, take a date, go out with friends, or just relax by yourself.  The venue was very intimate, with low lights and soft music.  LiT has a very contemporary design, with the brushed aluminum tables and soft leather seating.  Many modern paintings decorate the interior, and give to the feel of the atmosphere.

The menu consisted of tapas, Spanish cuisine with a contemporary twist.  Not the largest selection, but definitely quality over quantity.  LiT offers twelve appetizers and nine specialties; ranging from seafood to sirloin.  We started with the Shrimp Cargot.   The jumbo shrimp was soaked in butter and herbs, with Havarti cheese baked over.  It looked excellent, and tasted even better.  Other appetizer options included Calamari, Crab Fritters, and Bruschetta.

The entrée’s were served on modern rectangular plates, adding to the feel of the atmosphere.  Kelly had the Sliced Beef Tenderloin.  These tender strips of beef were served with a sweet whiskey sauce, and accompanied with fresh greens doused in vinaigrette.  The tenderloin would melt in your mouth, and the whisky sauce would leave you hungry for more.

Chelsea had the Grilled Shrimp Skewers.  This specialty was served with an exotic look, the skewers upright served in a baked potato. The jumbo shrimp was grilled, and served with a Thai cream sauce and a lemon herb sauce.  This also was accompanied with fresh greens and vinaigrette.

I enjoyed the Jack Daniels Shrimp Mignon.  The jumbo shrimp was wrapped in bacon, stuffed with cream cheese and peppers, and also served with a sweet whiskey sauce.  The shrimp at LiT was tender and tasty.  They offer some of the best shrimp specialties you’ll find in the Midwest.  The shrimp mignon was also served with the side salad and vinaigrette.

As the evening winded down, the lounge started to pick up.  The bar is fully stocked and has quite an extensive drink menu, including a variety of martinis, shot specials, and foreign and domestic beers.  At about nine, the DJ started spinning and the patrons began to mingle.  LiT offers a diverse crowd from young singles to older professionals.  With the welcoming atmosphere, satisfying menu, and helpful staff, LiT is a great place to stop in and grab a bite, and perhaps a drink too.
